The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop has extended its half-price sale on children’s books and movies until June 30. Originally, the sale was to have ended on June 14.
The special reason for the extension, explained the shop’s co-manager Rosie Bensen, is to give teachers more time to take advantage of sale prices after school lets out. According to the shop’s long-standing policy, teachers and home-schoolers already pay half-price for items they will use for instruction. With this sale, they now pay 25 percent.
“We’re so grateful for everything teachers do,” said Bensen. “One way we can support them is to help them acquire books for their students.”
The book shop, a major source of funding for Skidompha Public Library, is located on Backstreet Landing in downtown Damariscotta. Besides books, it offers movies on DVD and VCR; music on CDs and records; and puzzles and games. All staff members are volunteers, all items are donated, and all proceeds support the library’s programs and collections.
The shop is open daily from 9 to 4. Donations are accepted during those hours.
