Children’s books and movies are on sale at half-price from June 1 through June 14 at the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop in downtown Damariscotta. All genres of books are included, with fiction and non-fiction for every age level and every interest.
Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, says, “We have hundreds of children’s books, and a great selection in all areas. We also have quite a few movies. This is the perfect time to stock up for all those summer reading and entertainment needs.”
From May 17 through May 31, the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop will be selling all mystery books at 1/2 price. Come in and check it out!

We can help with holiday cooking over the next few weeks! All cookbooks will be on sale at half-price from Tuesday, December 20 through Tuesday, January 3.
The shop will be open from 9 to 4 every day during the holidays except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Skidompha Book Shop volunteers decorated this Christmas tree for the local Rotary Club’s Festival of Trees, a silent auction that raises funds to support non-profits in the area. The tree’s theme was “Books Give Us Wings.” The wings were represented by butterflies and birds, including ornaments with Skidompha’s own traditional owl, Sophia. Books were represented by book ornaments and, wrapped under the tree, actual books.
Thanks to the volunteers who helped us participate in this important community event!
Though not the same tree, we have our own tree lit up outside the shop to spread some warmth and light each evening.

Teachers get a discount at the Book Shop! We offer 50% off on all materials to be used in the classroom, indoors or out, and for homeschool. As you transition back to the school year, we hope you’ll take some time to wander around the shop and see what we have to offer. We thank you for your hard work!
Do you have books you’d like to donate? We’ve expanded our donation hours to match the hours we are open. Monday through Saturday 9 to 4. Sundays from 10 to 4. We accept 4 boxes or bags per person, per day. Thank you to all of the generous readers in our community who keep our shelves well-stocked!
Half-price sale on cookbooks! All cookbooks will be on sale at half-price from Tuesday, March 8 through Tuesday, March 22.
According to Rosie Bensen, co-manager of the shop, “We have about 300 cookbooks on sale. So whatever a person likes to cook, there’s probably a cookbook for that. Even people who don’t like to cook might find something just right for those times when they have to cook anyway. And some cookbooks are just fun to read.”
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop is always adding to our collection. Do you have piles of vinyl records at your house? We're seeking and accepting donations of gently used vinyl for our ever-expanding selection of records. We are especially interested in classic rock, and we can't seem to keep Fleetwood Mac on the shelves!
We accept donations at the side door Monday through Wednesday from 8 to 4; Thursday through Saturday, 8 to 10; and Sunday, 10 to 4.
