The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop is open daily from 9 to 4.
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop, in its spacious location overlooking Maine’s Damariscotta River, offers more than 15,000 books in dozens of categories, as well as music CDs, vinyl records, movies on DVD and videotape, audiobooks, and puzzles.
All items are donated by members of the community, all staff members of the shop are volunteers, and all proceeds directly support the programs of Skidompha Library.
So when you shop at, or donate items to, the Skidompha Book Shop, you know that you are supporting the library’s collection as well as its many programs in the arts, science, culture, and education, for residents and visitors of the Midcoast.
At the Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop, which was founded in 1968, you will find fiction and non-fiction hardbacks and paperbacks for adults and children, books about Maine and New England, matched sets of beautiful old books, first editions, rare books, books for mystery fans, cookers, quilters, artists, gardeners, and much, much more.
We are grateful for donated items, and we ask that you do not leave donated books outside the shop; a few minutes exposed to weather can badly damage the books. We also cannot accept more than four boxes or bags at a time during shop hours, due to limits of space and time. For donors who come after 10 a.m. — the side door will be locked; please stop at the front desk and tell a volunteer that you’re making a donation. Thank you so much for your generosity and understanding!
